Our flowers are grown on 600 acres of farmland, where every stem is carefully cultivated, hand-picked, and assembled into high-quality bouquets.

We specialize in sunflowers and unique mixed “Taste of Country” bouquets, supplying mass market retailers, wholesale distributors, florists, and farmers markets across Canada. Our focus on selecting the best varieties and implementing proven growing practices allows us to consistently deliver clean, vibrant, and long-lasting flowers, particularly our premium sunflowers.

To further improve product quality and freshness, Dutch Mill Gardens has introduced vacuum cooling technology, commonly used in Europe’s leading floral markets. This innovative system rapidly removes field heat after harvest, helping to maintain quality and extend shelf life, providing greater value for our customers and their consumers.

The business was founded in 1985 by Ed and Elaine Scharringa, who began growing gladiolas and outdoor cut flowers on a small acreage in Millgrove, Ontario. Over time, the operation expanded into bedding plants and specialty floral products, building a strong reputation for unique varieties and exceptional quality.

Today, the farm is operated by Mike and Angela Scharringa, who continue to build on that foundation by focusing on sunflower production and handcrafted bouquet programs for large-scale markets. Dutch Mill Gardens products are now found in major Canadian grocery retailers, recognized for their consistent quality and distinctive presentation.

Dutch Mill Gardens has been a long-standing vendor at the Ontario Food Terminal, where we continue to serve many of our original wholesale customers while building new partnerships within the floral industry.
